Red Storm Entertainment Shadow Watch README
December, 1999
From the Development Team:
Thank you for trying the Shadow Watch Demo. This demo is a example of the
full version of Shadow Watch. We have included four single mission high
scores that you may challenge as well as a portion of campaign play. The
actual campaign story will be entirely different in the full version. For
space reasons we have not included voice, locale music, or some of the full
special effects. You will be given two of the six characters in the full version
to complete your missions. In campaign play each team member will start at
250 XP - higher than the normal start of (0 XP)in the full version . You also
have been given only level one and two enemies of one faction as resistance.
We hope you enjoy playing the game as much as we enjoyed making it.
Below is a list of known issues and answers to common questions.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. General Notes and Troubleshooting
1.1 Minimum Requirements
The Minimum System Requirements for Shadow Watch are:
Computer: Pentium 133Mhz
Memory: 32 MB RAM Required
Operating System: Windows 95 or Windows 98
Video: DirectX compatible 2D video card with 2MB VRAM capable of 16bit colors
CD-ROM: 4x or faster
Sound: DirectX compatible sound card required
Hard Drive: 100 MB uncompressed space
DirectX: DirectX 6.1 or higher must be installed
1.2 Installation Notes
If you choose not to install Shadow Watch to the default location
(c:\Program files\Red Storm Entertainment\Shadow Watch), You must install
Shadow Watch into a valid folder. You can not install the game to a C:\ or
D:\ drive without first creating a folder or directory to install the game
into. You must create a folder (i.e. C:\Shadow Watch or D:\Red Storm
Entertainment instead of installing directly to C:\ or D:\ without a
folder). If you install Shadow Watch directly to the C:\, D:\, or other
root directory without a seperate folder for the game, it will not function
properly.
1.3 Multi-Tasking (Alt-Tab)
Shadow Watch does not support multitasking (pressing ALT+TAB). This should
not be an issue, as there should not be any open programs running in the
background while playing Shadow Watch. For best results, please make sure
all open programs are closed before starting Shadow Watch -- this includes
any programs running in the System Tray beside the clock on the Windows 9x
task bar.
1.4 DirectX Help
If you are having trouble installing and/or playing Shadow Watch, make sure
you have DirectX version 7 or higher installed on your computer. You can
get the latest version from Microsoft (www.microsoft.com/directx).
These webpages can also provide support with common DirectX problems.
1.5 Custom Cursor
If you experience problems with your custom cursor such as incorrect centering,
go into the preferences screen and click off the custom cursor tab. This will
default to the Microsoft standard cursor.
1.6 F11 update screen
At any time in the game except (for loading screens) you experience Shadow Watch
screen going black, you can have it immediately update by pressing the F11 key.
2. Video Card Notes and Troubleshooting
2.1 General video card troubleshooting
If you experience video problems while you are playing Shadow Watch, such
as video glitches, screens overlapping, strange colors, or video card
related error messages, first make sure your video card meets the minimum
requirements stated on the box and in section 1.1 above. If it meets these
requirements and you are having trouble, please contact your video card's
hardware manufacturer for the latest certified DirectX drivers for your
video card. Many manufacturers maintain World Wide Web sites that offer
updated drivers and troubleshooting advice for their products. For a list
of some major video card manufacturer's Web sites, please search for
"update drivers" in the Red Storm Solution Center at:
http://www.redstorm.com/support.
3. Audio Notes and Troubleshooting
3.1 General sound card troubleshooting
If you experience sound problems while you are playing Shadow Watch, such
as no sound, choppy or erratic sound, or sound related error messages, first
make sure your sound card meets the minimum requirements stated on the box
and in section 1.1 above. If it meets these requirements and you are having
trouble, please contact your sound card's hardware manufacturer for the
latest certified drivers for your sound card. Many manufacturers maintain
World Wide Web sites that offer updated drivers and troubleshooting advice
for their products. For a list of some major video card manufacturer's Web
sites, please search for "update drivers" in the Red Storm Solution Center
at http://www.redstorm.com/support.
